Imagine: It’s a rainy day out. So, you’re planning a comfortable and relaxing time indoors. You walk over to your thermostat to keep things comfortable inside and you realize… nothing is happening. So, you go through the basic troubleshooting and still can’t get it to work; you start your search for a local HVAC company. You call a company and they inform you they cannot come out today.

Hold on. Wait, a second. Did they say they couldn’t make it out today? It’s chilly outside because it’s raining, so what’s the deal? Before you react to the friendly customer service staff…

There’s a reason your local HVAC Company cannot service your unit.

With the HVAC industry, safety needs to be a priority. Your local HVAC Company would never want you to be uncomfortable inside your home. Let’s take a second to think where our HVAC units are located in our homes, for most it’s located outdoors exposed to Mother Nature. So, working on electrical equipment in the rain can be very dangerous not only for the technician but can also damage your system further down the road.

Next time you run into, try to follow these tips to stay comfortable and keep your HVAC safe as well!

  • Turn your system off at the thermostat.
  • For the hot and humid storms, open the windows, this will create a cross-ventilation, so air is circulating through your home. Turn on ceiling or standing fans if you have them.
  • Dress appropriately for the weather, remove or add layers to stay comfortable.

Keep in mind, it is important to maintain your systems and make timely necessary repairs, to avoid breakdowns and uncomfortable home environments. Quigley Heating and Air have plans starting at $15/Month: Call TODAY for details on one of our 3 programs that will best fit your needs: (972)441-7068.
