AC Blower Repair | Irving, TX

Essential Routine AC Maintenance and Blower Repair Preformed by Professionals – Available in Irving, TX

When Your AC Blower Needs to Be Repaired

One of the most important jobs of your home is keeping you safe and comfortable in all kinds of weather. Dry in the rain, warm in cold weather, and perhaps most important of all, cool in the midst of summer. Living in Irving, TX, you have to frequently deal with record-breaking three-digit temperatures that can make you feel like you are melting.

Air conditioning is a nice thing to have but in Texas it is essential. Your best bet is an  HVAC system that provides fresh air and cooling for your entire home. Like your car and appliances, your HVAC requires regular maintenance to keep it humming. You don’t want it to fail in the middle of a heatwave. It’s vital to know the signs of a blower that needs to be repaired or replaced and to have it done before it dies altogether.

The Blower Motor

One of the most important parts of your cooling system is the blower motor. It performs the vital function of moving cool, conditioned air through your vents into each room of your home. To ensure you aren’t left in the heat, you need to be able to recognize when the blower motor is breaking down. There are five signs that your HVAC system may need AC Blower Repair.

1. It Makes Strange Sounds

A properly functioning blower motor makes little if any sound. It should hum like a finely tuned engine. If you hear sounds that are out of the ordinary, such as squeals, squeaks, or screeches, the belt or bearings in your blower may be wearing out. It is a sure sign that you should call an HVAC tech and have it looked at.

2. Weak Air Flow

When a blower motor is functioning properly, you should easily feel the air flowing out of the vents. If the flow is weaker than normal, something is wrong, and the motor is having trouble pushing air through the system. This could be due to the motor wearing out, a bad capacitor, or a buildup of dust and dirt. Call in a pro to have it serviced.

3. No Air Flow

Naturally, if there is no airflow, your blower is not functional and needs to be repaired or replaced. There are several parts that could be the culprit and your HVAC tech can determine which needs to be repaired or replaced.

4. Overheating Motor

If the blower motor is overheating, it is working too hard to do its job. It may be caked with dirt or grime or could be wearing out. This is another reason to call your tech and have the motor inspected and fixed.

5. Higher Than Usual Energy Bills

If your utility bills are significantly higher than usual, that could be a sign of a failing blower motor. The blower uses the most energy of any component in the system and if it is not functioning properly, it may need more power than usual to do its job. If you haven’t been using more appliances or with greater frequency, have your tech look at your blower motor.

If you notice any of these signs, have your system inspected ASAP. It’s not worth the risk to lose AC in the crazy Texas heat.

HVAC Maintenance

Regular HVAC maintenance is vital to keeping the system running properly. Each fall and each spring, before the extreme weather seasons, have your tech inspect your system and replace or repair any parts that need it. Here are some tips to help keep your system in top working order.

  • Replace your filter at least every 90 days – It’s also a good idea to check it monthly and replace it sooner if necessary.
  • Buy the best quality filter available – Better filters are not that expensive but they can make a huge difference in the functioning and longevity of your system.
  • Keep the outdoor components free from debris – Once a week, clear away leaves, twigs, and other debris from your heating and cooling units to prevent clogging.
  • Allow at least two feet of clearance from heat pumps and cooling units
  • Inspect refrigerant and insulation lines monthly – If they are damaged in any way or missing, have them replaced.
  • Keep the unit level – Make sure heat pumps and cooling units are set on level ground. Use a slab of concrete if necessary.

These tips will save you money on repairs and help your HVAC system run optimally. An important safety tip is to have a carbon monoxide detector in your home and replace the battery yearly. CO is a deadly gas that has no odor. Without a detector, you have no way of knowing if your system is pumping out poison.

The easiest way to ensure that your HVAC system is serviced regularly is to sign up for a maintenance plan. Quigley Heating and Air has 3 different plans ensuring there is one to suit your needs. Take the pressure off yourself to remember to schedule maintenance and let Quigley do it for you.

An HVAC system is a handy thing to have in a home. In a place like Texas, where summers are infernos, it is a must-have. Monitor your blower motor, follow the tips, and call Quigley when you suspect an issue. Early detection can keep you in the cool and save you money.
