When anticipating storm weather and the power surges that come with lightning, safety is essential. If your expensive electronic equipment is important to you, then you should check for gaps in the electrical system safety of your home. With this in mind, here are our four tips on reevaluating your home’s safety.

Unplug Unused Items
Unplugged items won’t cause fires and they won’t cause a power surge. Consider going through your home and checking for unnecessarily plugged in items, to help mitigate risk. Quick bonus tip, you can plug into a power strip with a switch and simply turn it off when not in use.

Don’t Overload a Circuit
In the case of an overloaded circuit, it should automatically shut off, however this can still cause damage. Be aware of how many devices you have connected to a circuit, including power strips and cords. To avoid an internal surge move devices to other circuits as necessary.

Use Wall Socket Plug-in Surge Protectors
Using wall socket plug-in surge protectors is an effective and simple step for you to take in protecting electronics in your home. As they protect from power surges, they will also assist in turning off the unused devices in your home efficiently.

Have a Whole-Home Surge Protector Installed
Your house is host to many important electronic devices. For some, these devices may be paramount to everyday living. A whole-home surge protector fortifies your home. They protect electronic devices against external surges in your whole electrical system from internal problems. If this home protection is something you are interested in, consider our surge protector that comes with several benefits.
