It can be tempting to leave your HVAC system running all day. However, while you sit comfortably your HVAC system is hard at work. As you rely on it more and more, it uses more energy. As everyone will be relying on their AC unit here soon, we’re here to help you keep costs and energy use low.

Use your Thermostat Wisely

It may sound simple, but you may want to reconsider how you use your thermostat. Are you leaving your AC on while you’re out? Is it being used in unoccupied guest rooms? Your thermostat should be kept at a comfortable temperature while considering humidity control. If you find yourself setting your thermostat to drastic settings, know that it won’t work any faster. This can lead to accidental excessive cooling and heating and costs. You might consider a smart thermostat and we can help!

Check Windows
In many ways windows may act as a gate to hot air. Luckily, preventing hot air from drifting in is quite simple. Firstly, you can assess how well a window is sealed. If needed you can add caulk or use weatherstripping to seal and close air leaks. Covering windows can also be effective. Taking advantage of blinds and curtains is a great way to minimize potential heat.
