Did you know that low refrigerant levels in an AC unit can cause it to fail prematurely? Freon leaks and evaporation will lead to low refrigerant levels or leaking. Not all refrigerants leak however, some evaporate over time due to the conditions of the AC duct work, heat load, and leak points. These leaks/evaporations are sometimes so slow they can be almost unnoticeable, but will still undermine the longevity of AC units by prematurely wearing parts out. Below, we’ll discuss signs of a low refrigerant level and how you can address it.

A high quality AC unit should run in intervals. If your AC is continuously running to maintain a pleasant temperature, this is a potential sign of a low level. On the other hand your AC may be ineffective while running nonstop. This sign may be more noticeable during warmer months. With both of these signs your AC is overworking and this will likely reflect in your energy bills.

If you suspect your refrigerant to be low, the HVAC experts are here to help. Don’t prolong issues that lead to frustrating, high bills. Let Quigley get your AC back in top shape, and we’ll give you the tools to keep it that way.
